Meet the Team

Tom Chapa
President and CEO

With more than 25 years of hands-on experience, Tom Chapa has built a lifelong career rooted in craftsmanship, integrity, and a passion for building. His journey in the trades began at just 14 years old, working alongside his father in the family’s upholstery shop, where he learned the value of hard work, precision, and pride in every detail.

Tom went on to establish his own framing company, gaining extensive experience in structural work and the fundamentals of quality construction. As his skills and reputation grew, he expanded his services to include full-scale home renovations — transforming houses into complete, beautifully finished living spaces.

Today, as President and CEO of Potts & Chapa Construction, Tom leads all contracts and sales while ensuring every project meets the company’s standards of excellence. Known for his professionalism and personal approach, he has earned the trust of clients and partners across Virginia.

Having called Virginia home for over 30 years, Tom is deeply connected to the community he serves. When he’s not on the job site or meeting with clients, he enjoys golfing on the weekends and spending quality time with his family.

Thomas Chapa
Vice President/Project Manager

Born and raised in Virginia, Thomas Chapa has spent his life surrounded by the values of hard work, craftsmanship, and integrity. A graduate of Old Dominion University, Thomas earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 2015 — the same year he began his career with Potts & Chapa Construction.

Since joining the company in the fall of 2015, Thomas has dedicated himself to learning every phase of the construction process. His hands-on experience spans all aspects of a build, from exterior and structural work — including excavation, foundations, framing, and roofing — to interior finishing and project completion. He has developed a deep understanding of how each stage connects, overseeing everything from the installation of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems to the fine details of drywall, paint, tile, and interior trim.

Growing up, Thomas played nearly every sport imaginable, and he continues to maintain an active lifestyle in his free time. He enjoys playing basketball, tennis, golf, and anything that keeps him moving.

With a strong foundation in both business and construction, Thomas brings a balanced approach to project management — combining technical knowledge with clear communication and a commitment to quality. His goal is to ensure every project is completed efficiently, skillfully, and to the full satisfaction of each client.

Eric Morales
Head Project Manager

Eric Morales began his professional journey as a career chef in California, where he spent over 15 years honing his skills in high-pressure, detail-oriented environments. In 1998, Eric relocated to Virginia and made a career shift into the construction industry — bringing the same dedication, precision, and work ethic that made him successful in the culinary world.

Eric started as a laborer, working on projects while the two founding partners of Potts & Chapa Construction were building their professional relationship. His intelligence, reliability, and versatility quickly made him a trusted team member, and when the company was formally established, Eric became one of the go-to professionals on the team.

Over the years, Eric has developed into one of the most knowledgeable Project Managers in Northern Virginia. His expertise spans the full spectrum of construction, including rough framing, all trades work associated with major additions, interior trim and product installations, drywall finishing, interior and exterior painting, and full on kitchen and bathroom remodels. Eric’s hands-on experience, problem-solving skills, and commitment to excellence ensure that every project he manages is completed efficiently and to the highest standards.

Carlos Salazar Munoz
Head Crew Leader

Carlos Salazar Munoz joined Potts & Chapa Construction in 2016, initially hired for a single bathroom renovation. During the project, it quickly became clear that Carlos’ extensive knowledge, versatility, and skill set were invaluable. Recognizing his talent, the company offered him a full-time position, and he has been an essential member of the team ever since.

As Head Crew Leader, Carlos oversees projects on-site, delegating tasks and ensuring steady progress when a Project Manager is not present. His expertise spans virtually every aspect of interior construction, including plumbing, electrical work, interior trim, built-in shelving, rough carpentry, and ceramic tile installation. Carlos particularly enjoys working on custom shelving and interior trim, bringing precision and care to every detail.

Over time, Carlos came to fully appreciate the culture and values of Potts & Chapa Construction. When his son, Michael, had the opportunity to join the company, Carlos personally recommended him. Today, after more than six years of hands-on experience alongside his father, Michael has grown into his own crew lead, continuing the family tradition of craftsmanship and leadership.

Carlos’ leadership, mentorship, and dedication make him a vital asset to Potts & Chapa Construction, ensuring every project is executed efficiently, professionally, and to the highest standards.

Michael Salazar Andres
Crew Leader

Michael Salazar Andres began his career with Potts & Chapa Construction at the age of 19, working alongside his father, Carlos Salazar Munoz. Early in his training, Michael worked with a highly skilled painter, where he learned the precision, patience, and dedication required to achieve perfectly finished walls and trim. Under his father’s guidance, he expanded his skills across nearly every aspect of construction.

Today, Michael is a skilled Crew Leader, capable of managing and running his own projects with minimal guidance from our Project Managers. His dedication, attention to detail, and well-rounded expertise make him a valued member of the team, ensuring every project is completed efficiently and to the highest standards.
